Brian Eric Kennedy has been the Senior Pastor at Mt. Zion Baptist Church since 1998 in Ontario, California. For over eleven years, Pastor Kennedy was on the management team of Prison Fellowship as the Los Angeles Area Director. Under his leadership, the Los Angeles area grew significantly, reaching out to numerous volunteers, churches and prison officials in five distinct regions including; Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo.
Pastor Kennedy served as a Youth Pastor for 15 years prior to serving at Mt. Zion . His assignment as Youth Pastor at Evening Star Baptist Church included complete oversight of the youth department and the performance of numerous ministerial assignments, including teaching Sunday school teachers, preaching, and teaching all-church Bible studies.
In a special assignment, Brian Kennedy served as Executive Director of Transition of Parolees, Inc., a nonprofit residential facility for homeless parolees. In this position, Pastor Kennedy supervised a staff of twenty employees and assumed responsibility for complete oversight of the 50-bed multi-service facility.
Prior to working for Prison Fellowship, Pastor Kennedy spent much of his career in the accounting field. Graduating from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting, Brian Kennedy worked as an accounting clerk, a bookkeeper and an accounting manager. Pastor Kennedy's accounting experience includes budget analysis, preparation of financial statements, general ledger accounting, and related routine accounting functions.
Pastor Kennedy's vision is to live out servant leadership among the Mt. Zion church congregation, to the end that God is glorified in His church by Christ Jesus (Ephesians 3:20 -21).
Brian Kennedy received a Master of Divinity Degree from Talbot School of Theology and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.
Pastor Kennedy is married to the former Hilda Barnes and they have four children: Brian Jr., Evelyn, Lelia and Joshua. |
